Soul Food

Published: 13th August 2023

Soul Food is a course for anyone who wants to grow in responsiveness to God. With an awareness of some of the Christian prayer traditions, tutors journey with participants to develop reflection (noticing the movements of the Spirit), an awareness of personality and prayer, and the use of silence, solitude, the Bible and our imaginations as helps to develop intimacy with God.

Course description

"This course is a gift and I have found it to be an invaluable part of growing as a Christian. Prayer is at the heart of all we do, so it’s great to have the opportunity to find different ways of listening and talking to God. Wonderful course leaders – skilled in prayer, gentle, encouraging and humble. Excellent material and really good to make new prayer friends as the course progresses.”

“An excellent introduction into personal ways of praying. It is well organised and moves at the right pace to allow time for practice, sharing experiences of prayer and led prayers. I recommend it to anyone seeking more ways in which to pray.”

These are two participant comments from the last Soul Food course, which we are running this autumn as a collaboration with Lichfield Diocese. The course is open to all including beginners in prayer as well as those with long experience.

The course will run from Oct 2023 to Feb 2024 over six Tuesday evenings online, plus three Saturdays in Penn, Wolverhampton. You can apply online or email your application to Mary Flitcroft, Diocesan Spirituality Adviser.

Cost: £144 (i.e. £12/eve plus £24 per day session). This reflects the running cost of the course; however if cost presents an obstacle please still apply as we may be able to help.
