St Johns Halesowen launch accessible New Worshipping Community

St John’s church in Halesowen recently launched a new worshipping community in partnership with a local charity called Halas Homes, to make church more accessible for their service users; vulnerable adults with disabilities and learning difficulties.

Church of England's role in historic adoption practices

The Church of England has apologised for its role in historical adoption practices, particularly in mother and baby homes. We are aware of homes in our diocese and are keen to understand the lived experience of those who came into contact with these.

Supporting refugees through sewing

The Chapter House at the Cathedral is currently hosting a vibrant exhibition of quilts as part of Refugee Week (15–21 June). Many of the quilts were produced as part of a group which supports refugees in Evesham. Bishop Hugh visited to hear more and bless the exhibition.

Bug hotels at Holy Trinity Malvern

The Malvern Link Rainbows recently filled Bug Hotels to put in the churchyard at Holy Trinity Church, Malvern, which had been made at the 'Men's Shed' which meets near the church.

Prayer Ministry morning

‘Helpful’, ‘engaging’, and ‘informative’, were amongst the responses from participants in the Introduction to Prayer Ministry morning held at St Stephen’s Church, Barbourne Worcester, which was organised by members of the Worcester Diocesan Healing Advisory Group.

Youth and families ministries growing and thriving at Severnside parishes

Severnside parishes have thriving youth and families ministries led by Associate Minister for children, youth and families, Libbirty Webber. Their toddler groups ‘Stepping Stones’ and ‘Severnside Youth’ for teenagers are doing especially well, seeing fantastic growth in the last few years.

New resources to support PCCs

A new section on the Church of England website signposts PCCs to existing mandatory and best practice information relating to protecting people from harm in a church setting, including a range of policies for the PCC to consider.

Sharing funding for others' benefit

One of the key elements of our renewal churches is that they will resource other local churches. St Stephen’s Church in Redditch did that when they decided to return the funding allocated to them by the national church to improve their building. This generosity will enable other renewal churches to complete their own building works.
