Both Simon Hill, Programme Lead for Children and Young People and James Atkinson, Digital Media Adviser will be leaving the diocesan office team early in the new year.
Joseph Diwakar was appointed as the diocesan Director of Mission and Ministry earlier this year, taking up his new role in June. We caught up with him to find out how his first few months have been and his plans for the Equipping Ministers for Mission underpinning diocesan priority.
The clergy housing team have recently worked on Harvington Rectory following the departure of the Rector there after 24 years in post. The team had just three months to prepare the house before the new Rector and his family moved in.
The Revd Steve Hollinghurst has been appointed as our New Worshipping Communities Lead. Steve is joining our Transformation Support Hub team, which is funded by the national church, replacing Kim Brown.
Following last year’s safeguarding audit, which recommended that the diocesan safeguarding team should be further strengthened, Casey Gallagher has joined the team as Assistant Diocesan Safeguarding Officer.
Five new honorary Canons have been installed at Worcester Cathedral in recognition of their work in both the Diocese and the wider Church. Appointments are made by the Bishop of Worcester (or Acting Bishop) in consultation with the Dean.
Two new starters will shortly be joining our diocesan Transformation support hub. Sharon Boardman will be joining us as Transformation Project Manager, and Fiona Edlington as Parish, HR and Recruitment Adviser.
Diocesan Director of Property, Ruth Beard has become an Associate Professional with the Royal Institute of Chartered Surveyors (RICS) following the completion of an assessment process.
Janet Fox has worked as our Clergy Development Officer for the past year. She came from an NHS background with significant experience in coaching and mediation, and during her first twelve months has spent time getting to know clergy to understand how we can best support their ongoing development and wellbeing.
Joseph Diwakar has been appointed as the new Director of Mission and Ministry for the Diocese. Joseph is currently Tutor and Lecturer in Church History at St Mellitus College, London, as well as being a member of the Archbishop’s Council.
