A final article for October editions of parish magazines from Bishop John as Bishop of Worcester.
Bishop Martin visited St Oswald's CE Primary School in Kidderminster yesterday to officially open their new prayer garden. The garden was created thanks to the efforts and generosity of the school community and was opened with a special ceremony.
25 candidates were ordained over the weekend to serve in parishes across the Diocese.
People from across the Diocese including lots of our female clergy, gathered in Pershore Abbey yesterday evening to celebrate the 30th anniversary of the ordination of the first women as priests.
Bishop John recently visited Harvington CE First School and joined in with their ‘climate day’ as they tidied the school grounds.

Bishop John has announced that he will be retiring at the beginning of October this year. This announcement started the discernment process to find the next Bishop of Worcester.
Bishop John has announced that he will retire in October. A farewell service will be held in Worcester Cathedral on Sunday 29 September, 4pm.

2024 marks 30 years since women were first ordained priest. A special service to celebrate the anniversary and all that has been achieved since then will be held at Pershore Abbey on Thursday 20 June at 7pm.
The annual Royal Maundy Service will be coming to Worcester on Thursday 28 March when Her Majesty The Queen will be distributing the Royal Maundy gifts on behalf of His Majesty The King at the Cathedral.
Bishop John recently presented Canon Paul Tongue with the Cross of St Wulfstan in recognition of his exceptional service to the Diocese of Worcester over many years. The award was presented to Paul while he was in hospital ahead of his sad death on Tuesday 30 January.
Bishop John’s Lent Appeal this year will be for the Friends of the Holy Land.
An award-winning film based on a book written by Bishop John's late wife Denise will get a special screening at Worcester Cathedral to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her death.
Malvern Link with Cowleigh has started an after-school club for local families in the hall at the Church of the Ascension. Parents with primary school age children can come along to the club, to do craft and games together and then have a hot meal.
Bishop John visited Hartlebury CE Primary School this week to bless their new reflection and prayer space which has been created by the pupils themselves.
Bishop Martin joined the congregation of St John’s Church in Kates Hill, Dudley last Sunday to bless their new community space.

To celebrate the feast of Christ the King, confirmations were held at the Cathedral last Sunday with people from parishes across the diocese being confirmed by Bishop John.
