Holiday club in Wyre Forest West

Children from Wyre Forest West Churches have enjoyed a summer activity day on the theme of Kingdom Builders (based on the Roots Kingdom Builders Holiday Club resource).

Associate Priest, Julia Quinn writes:

Church built from multicoloured lego-style material“This year our preschool group, Little Fishes, joined us for the morning of a fun-filled day. We shared the story of the wise and foolish builders and got creative with crafts.

The children loved joining in with the words and actions to our song, and enjoyed baking rock cakes, decorating a gingerbread church, and designing colourful flags for God’s kingdom – including one large flag now proudly displayed in Bayton Church.

Partly coloured in flag with a tree, cross, crown and 'kingdom people' on with some pens next to it.We also thought about what makes a place special for God and set about building our own model churches and an outstanding structure was created!

Using just newspaper and Sellotape, the children produced some sturdy creations which passed the ultimate strength test – a good soaking with water – and still stood strong!

Along the way, we discovered that while sand is perfect for making art magnets, it’s not the best foundation for building – reminding us that the firm rock we build on is Jesus.”
