Becoming an Eco Diocese

The Diocesan EcoGroup will give a presentation to Diocesan Synod at the start of March to beginsteps towards becoming an Eco Diocese.

Many of us arevery aware of the major threats to the environment and of climate change. AsChristians, we see it as part of our stewardship of Gods gifts to us, toprotect the environment by becoming more eco-friendly. The Eco Church and EcoDiocese schemes offer practical suggestions of how to support this vision. These include teaching about caring for Gods earth in worship, conservation ofchurches and their land, using Fairtrade items, recycling, toilet twinning, andreducing pollution through car-share schemes or walking.

Churches can takethe national Eco Church award survey, to assess how environmentally friendlytheir church is, and could achieve a bronze, silver or gold award. St Cassiansin Chaddesley Corbett just outside of Kidderminster has already achieved abronze level Eco Church award. Several other environmentally friendly churchesin the Diocese are also working towards this.
