2024 marks 30 years since women were first ordained priest. A special service to celebrate the anniversary and all that has been achieved since then will be held at Pershore Abbey on Thursday 20 June at 7pm.
Chris Sheehan is a Pioneer Minister in Evesham having been ordained six years ago. With a ministry focussed on working in the community, he decided to stay as a distinctive deacon rather than being ordained as a priest at the end of the first year of his curacy.
Doug Chaplin has taken on the role of Bishop’s Adviser for Worship and Liturgy.
Twenty-five people recently completed an Alpha course in the Teme valley, which was supported by a grant from the Healthier Churches Fund.

The parish of Hanley Castle run a very successful Beer and Ethics Lent series, led by Sue Adeney, which is now in its tenth year. The principal is that people from the community that have interesting jobs, interests or circumstances are interviewed about their work but from an ethical point of view.
The annual Royal Maundy Service will be coming to Worcester on Thursday 28 March when Her Majesty The Queen will be distributing the Royal Maundy gifts on behalf of His Majesty The King at the Cathedral.
Bishop John has announced the appointment of the Revd Melissa Beynon as Rector of the benefice of Ribbesford w Bewdley & Dowles & Wribbenhall.
St Mary’s Church in Madresfield was the setting for a leap day wedding on 29 February. The happy couple, Sophie and Steven Mason had waited for this date and worked with the church to have their wedding in Lent.
Parishes will now be able to apply for grants of up to £10,000 to make repairs to their church buildings thanks to a new funding stream from the national church.

Bishop John recently presented Canon Paul Tongue with the Cross of St Wulfstan in recognition of his exceptional service to the Diocese of Worcester over many years. The award was presented to Paul while he was in hospital ahead of his sad death on Tuesday 30 January.
St Anne’s Church in Bewdley marked Racial Justice Sunday on 11 February. The recommended theme this year was migration, and the congregation prayed for the 100 million people displaced from their homes across the globe, roughly half of whom are children.
An award-winning film based on a book written by Bishop John's late wife Denise will get a special screening at Worcester Cathedral to commemorate the 10th anniversary of her death.
St Thomas’ Church in Stourbridge saw a significant increase in attendance at its Christmas services this year, which the vicar, Andrew Sillis, is crediting in part to a campaign on social media.
