Support with introducing worship to social groups

Soulspace logoChurches that host outreach, social or craft groups may want to introduce a spiritual element into these spaces, but often aren’t sure how it could work, or what sort of worship would be suitable.

Soulspace is a free resource available online that offers advice on how to gently introduce an optional worship element to established groups either before or after the main activity. It has been developed by the Church of England’s ‘Greenhouse’, who help establish and grow new Christian communities.

The team have put together a simple all-purpose service that lasts for about 10 minutes, including music options and suggestions for Scripture readings. There are also options for more content to make it longer if you wish. There are services on the themes of meeting with God (an all-purpose service), Joy, Comfort and Peace. Leaders’ notes are included as well as music options, suggestions for Scripture readings and questions to help generate discussion.

These resources can also be used to create a new service for people who find traditional church services intimidating. They work well with New Worshipping Communities that offer a short time of worship such as Breakfast Church or Cafe Church.
