Old Palace Library

Visiting the Library

The library room is often in use for meetings and conversations. Currently we are trying to keep the room open as a browsing and borrowing library on these days, and between these times:

  • Mondays 12.30 – 1.30
  • Thursdays 12.30 – 1.30
  • Fridays 12.30 – 1.30

To be on the safe side, we advise you to ring our Reception team (01905 20537) before making a special trip, to check it will be open as advertised.

When a volunteer is not present, the Library is run by "self service". Full details for borrowing books is given in the Library. If you are not yet a library user, there are also instructions on how to register as a new borrower.

Users may borrow up to four books for four weeks.

Please note:

These restrictions are due to the need to make additional use of the library as meeting space within the life of the diocesan office. We are actively pursuing options to see how a library facility within the diocese can continue to be made available for study and reflection, and hope to have more positive news later in the year.

Robin Woods Library

New Road Methodist Church, Stourbridge, DY8 1PQ

(August 2018) It has been decided that this Library, which has been operated by a group from Churches Together in Stourbridge, should close. There is an invitation across the diocese to see if there are any books or other resources from the library stock, which you or your church would like to take. We hope you will feel able to make an appropriate donation for any books or resources you choose to take away. These donations will be sent to the Bible College in Morogoro, Tanzania (with whom we in the Diocese of Worcester have a friendship link) to buy books for their library.

The Library will be open for you to browse and select your choices as follows:

  • Wednesday, 19 September 2018 – 7 - 8.30 p.m.
  • Saturday, 22 September 2018 – 10 am - 12 noon
  • Thursday, 27 September 2018 – 10 am- 12 noon

or at other times by arrangement with Jane (07799 965748)

The library has approx 3,500 books relating to Christian topics, including bible commentaries, ethics, spiritual direction, biography and liturgy, as well as wide range of material for Advent, Lent and Easter. There are comprehensive sections on prayer, and Franciscan, Celtic and Ignatian spirituality. There are also sections on music and ministry, and an RE and Teaching resources section.
