To celebrate the feast of Christ the King, confirmations were held at the Cathedral on Sunday with people from across the diocese being confirmed by the Bishop of Dudley, Martin Gorick.Â
Over 40 people from across the Diocese have received a certificate from Bishop Martin, marking the completion of a course designed to help them relate their Christian faith to their own life and locality.
The Bishop of Dudley, Martin Gorick, has backed Dudley Borough’s bid for city status – saying that it would be a big boost to the Black Country as a whole.
Bishop Martin is supporting a campaign calling for churches to take a more sustainable approach to flower arranging and whenever possible, stop using floral foam in their displays.
Five people from parishes across the Diocese were admitted to the office of Reader on Saturday. Bishop Martin conducted the service, licensing the individuals to minister in the parishes they have been called to serve.
Throughout Autumn, Bishop Martin will be journeying around the diocese in a pilgrimage of prayer and hope, spending two days in each of our deaneries and visiting as many churches as possible.
Bishop John has appointed Mary Flitcroft as his new Adviser for Spirituality. Mary will take over from Sue Perry, who is stepping down from 1 August.

22 people from across Worcestershire and Dudley were confirmed by Bishop John in Worcester Cathedral yesterday, seven of the candidates were also baptised.Â

Our Archdeacons, along with Bishop Martin, will be taking on slightly different responsibilities over the coming months as the diocesan restructuring process moves forward following the Open Conversations earlier in the year.
