A special service of worship and celebration with Canon Rosemary Lawley will be held in Worcester Cathedral on Tuesday 22 July.
Rose was ordained in Lichfield in 2003 and following her curacy served in Kidderminster as a parish priest and Industrial Chaplain until her retirement. She was made an Honorary Canon of Worcester Cathedral in 2015.
After a diagnosis of Motor Neurone Disease at the end of last year, the service will give thanks for Rose’s ministry over the years and also support the charity MNDA.
Rose’s granddaughter, Leigh said: “While the service is not tied to a specific anniversary, it feels like the right moment to bring people together in thanksgiving for my grandmother’s incredible life, her faith, and the countless ways she’s supported individuals, families, and communities over the years.
“Since her MND diagnosis, it’s been a life-changing few months, but true to form, she continues to face everything with grace, courage, and strength. We’re acutely aware of how vital the MNDA’s work is - both in supporting people living with the condition and in funding research towards better treatments and, one day, a cure. It felt only right that this service - while being a moment of celebration, reflection, and gratitude - could also serve a wider purpose in helping a cause that means so much to Nan and to all of us as a family.”
All are welcome to the service which will take place on 22 July at 7pm.
