Suckley's Tree of Light

Worship next to the tree of lightEvery year St John the Baptist church, Suckley in the Worcestershire West Rural Team enjoys bringing to life its own Tree of Light.

Churchwarden, Anne Lewis, explains:

"Each bulb has been dedicated to someone precious who is not able to be with us.  We have Christingles too which the families particularly enjoy.

Nativity scene by the tree of lightThe service begins our Christmas season and brings all ages together.  After the service we gather around the tree to sing ‘This little light of mine, I’m going to let it shine’, being warmed by mulled wine and hot chocolate.

Our nativity scene is also is appreciated daily by the families going to and fro with the school next door.  Suckley church hopes that the real Christmas spirit will reach everyone in the village."
