Praying for those returning to school

Lady offering a prayer at a prayer station at the front of St Barnabas churchSt Barnabas' Church, Rainbow Hill in Worcester, opened all day on Wednesday 3 September to pray for all those returning to school.

Vicar Sarah Northall writes:

"With eight schools in the parish, and many more across the city, prayers were offered by name for heads, their schools, their staff and students, and also for our own Diocesan Education team, and for those responsible for education policy at a national level.

Rainbow over a residential road Prayer activities included lighting candles, walking the labyrinth, an interactive prayer tree, and services throughout the day. The rhythm of prayer was marked with Morning Prayer at 8am, Midweek Communion at 10am, Midday Prayer at 1.15pm, and Evening Prayer at 4pm.

As the day unfolded, a rainbow appeared over Rainbow Hill — a fitting sign of God’s promise and blessing as we prayed for the new school year."
