Poppies at Astley School

Astley CE Primary School have marked the centenary of the end ofWorld War One with a poppy installation of their own.

Astley School poppy installationChildren in Stay and Play and Elm Class have been busyrecently turning the bottom of plastic bottles into poppies. These were thendisplayed outside the front of the school by Mrs Ablett, who co-ordinated thisventure.

Mrs Reakes-Williams, Headteacher, said:

"This has been alovely way to give children the opportunityto remember those who gave their lives for our country or were injured or lostloved ones. They see these poppies as they arrive in school and as they playoutside each day. It is so important to remember, respect and reflect as aschool community each year."

1000s join the ‘peg nativity’ at Great Malvern Priory

Great Malvern Priory are encouraging people to be part of the Christmas story this year by decorating a peg person to add to the church’s nativity scene. So far 1500 peg dolls have been decorated by people visiting the Priory and it’s hoped there will be lots more before the parish nativity service on 21 December.
