All Saints Church in Sedgley held a pancake party in the church hall on Tuesday morning with over 85 children attending.
Many of the parents present expressed an interest in bringing their children to other things, including potential New Worshipping Communities being planned.
Team Rector of Gornal and Sedgley Parish and Renewal Leader at All Saints’ in Sedgley, Diane Cooksey, reported:
“We had 14 volunteers who helped set up various activities and serve refreshments. We offered pancake decorating, creating paper pancake faces, making a prayer box, pancake tossing game, lego - building tall towers and various colouring / puzzle sheets.
We started the session by watching an animated video of Jesus being tempted in the desert and singing Great Big God. The children had about 40 minutes to do the various activities before we finished with parachute games and a prayer.
The numbers who attended were far greater than we were expecting and we had a fabulous morning. The feedback was really positive and above all it was fun!”
The team at All Saints in Sedgley are also planning to have a pony on Palm Sunday to lead the procession around the church and other activities in the church on Good Friday.
