Claines Church to launch new ‘Bubble Church’ service thanks to grant funding

In January 2026 Claines Church, will be launching a new and exciting church service for children called ‘Bubble Church’. This has been made possible thanks to a grant from the diocesan support hub and the ‘Healthier Churches Fund’.

Bubble Church is a service joyfully designed for parents of little ones and their families. Families sit together on a “bubble mat” (a small circular carpet) and take part in a short, interactive worship experience. Each service includes:Bubble church

  • Action songs
  • A Bible story (with puppets!)
  • A creative response
  • A “God Spot” where children offer prayers of thanks and praise
  • Beautiful liturgy, all wrapped into a 25–30-minute service
  • Plus the wonderful gift of refreshments

On Saturday 11 October, seven of the Bubble church team, led by Bubble Church Champion Lorraine Deeprose, travelled to London for training at Ascension Church in
Balham, where the concept of ‘Bubble church’ first began during COVID in 2020. This was when only socially distanced ‘bubbles’ were allowed to meet. Bubble church Champion Lorraine Deeprose from Claines Church said:

“Our mission is to help Children & Families to find God! We’re grateful to the diocesan team for supporting us with grant funding for training, puppets and other resources. We will be sharing our journey of launching Bubble Church at Claines and spreading the joy to other churches.”

“We work closely with St George's Barbourne and St Stephen's Worcester, who have also welcomed this service and will be in partnership with us, bringing children and families together from across our communities.”

“We’re really looking forward to our launch event in January! We’re very happy to share our learning with other churches and will keep everyone posted!”

With support from the Church of England, ‘Bubble Church’ is now a national initiative which has launched in more than 80 churches across the country since it started.
