Churches invited to mark Disability Awareness Sunday on 28 September

Through the roof logoChurches across our Diocese are invited to celebrate Disability Awareness Sunday on 28 September 2025 by the Christian disability charity ‘Through the Roof’ who are offering free resources via their website to aid this.

The theme for this year is ‘Made in God’s image’. The charity remind us that God loves everyone and how important it is that churches ensure disable people feel included in their communities. Marking Disability Awareness Sunday is one way of sharing God’s love to ensure that they do.

This year’s free resource pack was created by award-winning author and speaker Emily Owen and includes prayers, sermon ideas, suggested hymns and bible passages, as well as a video that can be shown in church.

Register as a Roofbreaker for free training

There is also the option to register as a ‘roofbreaker’ for your church. This will mean you can access further resources and training through-out the year.

Emily reminds us: “When churches embrace disabled people fully, everyone is blessed.” Let’s show the world that God is love – and that love includes everyone.
