Clare Soar has been appointed as the new Youth and Children’s Minister at St Thomas and St Luke (‘Top Church’) in Dudley.

Clare and her husband have been attending Top Church for the last few months and when she saw the post advertised, she was keen to get involved. The new role will involve providing activities for the current children and young people in the congregation of the church and also looking at ways to spread the word of God to young people outside of the church.

Clare said: “This is a big job and a real challenge, but I can’t wait to get started! I want to share God’s love with people across Dudley and am planning to work with local schools and other organisations for children and young people in the town. This is a chance for me to help grow the church of the future and also make a real difference to the lives of young people in Dudley.”

Last year, Top Church celebrated its 200th anniversary, and Clare’s role will be all about making sure the church is relevant to the younger generation and ensuring it’ll be there for another 200 years!

Clare continued: “My husband and I have wanted to be involved in the changes happening at Top Church from the very beginning of its journey and I’m so excited to have been given this role. I'm looking forward to getting to know children and young people in Dudley, both inside and outside of the church. Now the pews are coming out of the building, it will be a much more flexible and accessible space – this will definitely help us to show local young people that it’s somewhere they are welcomed.”
