Two special events are being held at Worcester Arena on 9 June which will see thousands of Christians come together in one place to worship God and to pray for our county.

9 June is Pentecost Sunday when Christians mark the coming of the Holy Spirit to the disciples after Jesus’ death. Last year, over 1,000 people from churches across the County crammed into Worcester Cathedral and this year the event is moving to Worcester Arena to give more people the opportunity to gather together.

At 3pm, there will be an event for families. ALIVE Worcestershire will be a fun, high energy worship concert led by singer/ songwriter and author Shell Perris with the iSingPop band and a special guest appearance by international speaker, Rob Parsons. Tickets cost £4 (£15 per family) and are available from

At 7.30pm, the Arena will be full again with Christians from churches across Worcestershire gathering to pray for the county. There is no ticket required for this completely free event and we will be joined by internationally renowned speaker, Canon J John.

Michael Brierley, Canon at Worcester Cathedral and one of the organisers said: “This is going to be such an exciting day for Christians in Worcester. It was absolutely incredible when so many people gathered in the Cathedral last year and with the Arena as our venue, this year is set to be even more special. I really hope that as many Christians as possible will cancel their normal evening service to come and join us. It’s definitely an event not to be missed!”

Shell Perris, organiser of ALIVE Worcestershire said: "It's amazing that the very first ALIVE Worcestershire is happening on Pentecost, at Worcester Arena and in partnership with 'Thy Kingdom Come'. This will be the first of three annual concerts and each one will give children and families the opportunity to worship God and find out more about the Christian faith. It's guaranteed to be a fun filled afternoon for all those who come along!"

All are welcome to Worcester Arena for the two events to celebrate Pentecost. ALIVE Worcestershire will be from 3 – 5pm (doors open 2.15pm) and the Thy Kingdom Come Prayer event with guest speaker J John will be from 7.30 – 9pm (doors open 6.45pm). More information at
