What is Taiz?

The TaizCommunity is made up of over a hundred brothers, Catholics and from variousProtestant backgrounds, coming from around thirty nations.

The brothers ofthe community live solely by their work. They do not accept donations. In thesame way, they do not accept personal inheritances for themselves; thecommunity gives them to the very poor.

Over the years, young adults have been coming to Taiz in ever greater numbers; they come fromevery continent to take part in weekly meetings.

Why go to Taiz?

From itsbeginning the community has been inspired by two aims: to live in communionwith God through prayer and to be a leaven of peace and trust in the midst ofthe human family.

A stay at Taizis an opportunity to seek communion with God in prayer, singing, silence andreflection. It can be possible to rediscover an inner peace, a meaning to lifeand a new impetus.

Experiencing asimple life shared with others reminds us that daily life is the place whereChrist is waiting for us.

Some youngpeople are looking for ways of following Christ with their whole lives. A stayin Taiz can help discern this call.

Meeting hundredsof young people from across Europe and further afield can enrich ourunderstanding of others lives and how they read and hear the Gospel.
