Dementia Friends training running near Redditch9 Feb 2018 By Sam Setchell
All are welcome to attend the Dementia Friends training organised by Wychebrook Curate Gary Crellin.
The Churches of Stoke Prior, Wychbold, Feckenham and Bradley Green are coming together to promote dementia awareness across the communities they serve.
“Dementia Friends” Training, accredited by the Alzheimer’s Society, is being run on Tuesday 27 February at The Lodge, Burcot Grange near Blackwell (B60 1BJ) - a brand new dedicated dementia care home – for residents and communities served by the Wychebrook Group of Churches and churches across Bromsgrove and Redditch.
Rev Gary Crellin from the Wychebrook Group of churches is supporting this venture. He said:
“Having worked previously in the NHS and developed services for people with a dementia, I am aware of how anxious people are of the mere mention of the D word. One way to tackle this is to be informed and supported. That’s what these sessions plan to do. They are open to all in our communities, not those that bother to come to church. Please come and learn more!”
With grateful thanks to The Lodge at Burcot Grange, two sessions (with refreshments) are planned for Tuesday 27 February - 2-4pm and repeated at 7-9pm. To attend the sessions, please book with June Crofts on 01527 832913.
Rev Gary continued:
“These are free and popular sessions - fun and interactive. Let’s work together to reduce the stigma associated with such a difficult set of diseases by find out more and learning how to cope and what support is out there to help”.
