The event brought together around fifty people, including members of the Association, St Philip’s congregation, and guests from other churches. The afternoon was filled with music, history, and memories, as the community celebrated the rich history of the organ and the Association.Close up of man playing the organ

During the event, attendees were treated to a presentation on the history of the Nicholson Organ, which dates back to 1890, the same era that saw significant progress in public infrastructure and cultural developments in Britain. The Revd Sarah Jayne said: “it’s great that the organ has now been restored and will continue to provide music for worship and celebration”

Keith Hearnshaw played a Minuet by John Stanley and a Toccata by Boëllmann, while Michael Carter delighted the audience with Songs from the Shows and the theme from Superman. Attendees were also invited to try the organ themselves, further showcasing its range.

Reflecting on the occasion, Philip Jarvis said: “It brought back memories of the Association’s formation in 1964. This afternoon has not only been a celebration of music but also of community history”Lady sat behind the refreshments with two cakes - one with 66 on and one with a cardboard pop up organ on the top
