Mission Enablers

Find out more about our Calling Young Disciples Mission Enablers

Mission Enablers

Our first Mission Enablers have been appointed and will be joining their host parishes on Palm Sunday.

Each of these placements will look very different as the Mission Enabler with the help of others reflects on the local context: the opportunities there are to grow and resource the existing work with Children, Young People and their families; the needs of the present volunteers and then what new areas of engagement could be developed during their year there and into the future. The first three placements are very much ‘pilot’ ones where we will all be learning together how to do this new way of working well.

Anne Batchelor - helping St. Thomas', Stourbridge

Anne BatchelorI live in Redditch in Worcestershire and since 2008 have been working as a full time children’s and family worker for a Methodist/URC church in the Town Centre.

I’m married to Richard and am blessed to be Mum to Luke, Beth and Megan, and Grandparent to Noah, Rohan, Harry and Lottie.

Richard and I are slowly renovating our terraced cottage and garden. Whenever we can we enjoy escaping to Brixham in Devon for a few days walking and the best fish and chips in the world!

I am looking forward to "walking alongside" churches and parishes to encourage and support them in their outreach and mission with young people and their families.

Helen Laird - helping the Halas team in Halesowen

Helen LairdI am excited to be involved in the Calling Young Disciples project.

I have been a children's and youth worker for over ten years, I am looking forward to equipping parishes to work intentionally with the children and young people in the communities surrounding the Halas Parish.

Adam Legge - helping Kidderminster East

Adam LeggeI have been a children’s and youth worker for 10 years in Cheltenham and come from a quite evangelical, free church background. I was married three years ago and we currently have a daughter aged 7 months and a Springer Spaniel. I enjoy long distance swimming, playing water polo and going to the cinema and have also worked in the leisure industry for 14 years running a swimming pool.

I’m heading to Kidderminster East and am looking forward to getting an idea of what the local community wants from their church and how that can be turned into a programme for children’s and youth work. Hopefully I can help to create a successful model which will help the church to grow.

Watch Amy, Anne, Helen and Adam introduce themselves and talk about what they hope to bring to their new roles ...
