For those who attended the latest clergy study day, led by the Diocesan Education Team, a new resource was introduced by Rev Duncan Hutchison. As promised, another date for training on this resource is being offered for those who were unable to attend the original session in September.

Holy Listening: Learning the Craft of Spiritual Direction. A taster session for those interested in finding out more about the Holy Listening course, taking place from September 2026 to October 2027

In this course we will look at ways in which we can see Collective Worship afresh and look at opportunities for ensuring that worship is transported from a 20-minute session to a living expression of the school’s distinctively Christian vision, both inside and outside of the school. This course is aimed at headteachers, clergy and Collective Worship leads within a school.

Members of Worcester Theological society will be sharing their reading recommendations.

This course is mandatory for foundation governors who are new or have been reappointed to a church school, and encouraged for those who wish to refresh their knowledge and understanding.

This session will look at the unique role of the clergy Ex-officio or approved Bishop’s Representative on the governing board of a church school.

In this Lunchtime Learning session, Revd Dr Robin Parry will talk about some of the key issues he explores in his book. He says that what Christianity has to offer is a distinctive spirituality, one that provides a rich rationale for creation care, principles to guide it, and the resources to empower, equip, and form people to walk the pathway with resilience. He argues for a slow spirituality, one that helps us reconnect with the rhythms of the natural world as we learn what it means to inhabit creation as creatures, living alongside other creatures, with faces turned towards our Creator.

The Revd Catherine Lomas, who spent some weeks working in Tewkesbury Abbey, will talk about the way in which icons are designed and created, inviting us to consider how the iconographic tradition seeks to communicate a distinctive, spiritual beauty and thus encompass the transcendent in visual form.

Empowering pupils to challenge the injustice that they see is an important aspect of enabling children to flourish in school. This course will look at what we mean by biblical justice.
