Even very young children have expectations and when things don’t go as they had hoped, they will soon let you know, by crying or having a tantrum. This is their way of coping and expressing their feelings. Helping children to understand that things don’t always go as we want is very helpful for their development. Helping parents talk to their children about the way things happen could in some cases prevent a toddler having a melt down.
