Preaching in Lent Workshop with Canon Roger Spiller
This two-hour in-person event for all who preach is being held at Holland House.
About this event
‘Preaching through Lent and Passiontide’.
A workshop to help those preaching through Lent and Holy Week begin to unpack the texts in conversation with our current context and our colleagues with some light touch theological input to guide our thinking.
How might our preaching drawing on the Old Testament and Gospel readings enrich the journey of our congregations through Lent and Passiontide? What are the opportunities for expounding the meaning of Christ’s suffering and death, as a pattern for ourselves, in preparation for the good news of Easter?
This workshop will offer some theological input, suggestions for fresh forms of preaching, space for discussion and for developing some sermon outlines.
Canon Roger Spiller is chair of the College of Preachers and has edited the Canterbury Preacher’s Companion.
“I found this workshop so useful for beginning to think through Advent even if I couldn’t do much about it till Advent. To sit with other preachers and exchange ideas around the texts in small groups was enriching and I found my notes from Roger’s input and our group musings very helpful when I came back to my own preparations.” Rev’d Katryn Leclézio
