Lunchtime Learning - Holding on to Hope for Creation
Speaker: Rev’d Dr David Hewlett
We can sing "All my hope on God is founded" but what does this mean when the news and forecasts about climate change and environmental destruction are so bad? How do we distinguish hope from wishful thinking or escapism? Does St Paul's enigmatic "hoping against hope" (Romans 4.18) provide a clue to help us think more deeply about Christian Hope in the face of crisis? This session will explore these and similar questions.
David chairs the Diocesan Climate Crisis Task Group and has spent most of his working ministry as a theological educator helping prepare women and men for ordained and lay ministries, most recently as the Principal of the Queen’s Foundation.
