All PCC members, licensed and lay ministers, and those working in roles with children and/or vulnerable adults must complete the relevant level of training as set out by the Learning and Development Framework.
There are clear signposts throughout all e-learning modules for anyone with immediate needs to be supported. Your PSO or incumbent would also be able to signpost to additional support.
Most training is now completed either individually online, via the Safeguarding Training Portal, or via a virtual group. All training must be renewed on a 3 yearly basis – renewing at the highest level required for your role.

For Clergy, Licensed Lay Ministers (Readers), Authorised Lay Ministers & PSOs. We encourage Churchwardens to attend, although they are no longer required to attend unless the parish is in vacancy. Takes place over two Zoom meetings plus some preliminary and post-course reflections; there are also two in-person courses available. Please book onto the course via the National Safeguarding Team Training Portal. You will need to navigate to the Leadership Course page and follow the link to courses running in Worcester. If the course is fully booked you will receive an email advising you of this and requesting you choose a new date. Please ask your PSO if you need assistance to book.

The Diocesan Safeguarding Trainer can visit your parish to deliver the following courses in-person:
Basic Safeguarding
Foundation Safeguarding
Raising Awareness of Domestic Abuse
You will need to have a guaranteed minimum of:
- at least 12 participants
- access to a projector or TV that is sound and video enabled
- an accessible premises with seat for the trainer.
