As Youth Officer, my passion is to assist and inspire parishes in their youth ministry. I can help parishes to develop a youth work programme, train volunteers or employ a paid worker. There are a number of paid workers across the diocese with whom I network and support and I am also available to visit parish youth groups, lead clubs or speak in church.
As part of my training role, I chair the Safeguarding Training Team who deliver the Safeguarding Basic Awareness course to all those volunteers who run youth and children’s groups.
I work with Church of England schools, helping to develop chaplaincy and encouraging Christian lunchtime groups. My role also covers young adults, working with FE Colleges and the University of Worcester to support the transition to adulthood. I partner with a number of organisations including YMCA Worcestershire and the West Midlands FE Council to equip young people to be lifelong followers of Jesus, finding their vocation and helping the church to reach out to the next generation.
I moved to Worcester diocese in summer 2014 after being a full-time youth and children’s worker since 2001. My wife, Claire and I have two lively sons and together we enjoy lego building, train track and constructing domino and marble runs!
We live in Evesham and enjoy walking by the river and gardening. I am originally from the North east of England and whenever we get a chance we return to Northumberland for holidays – especially visiting Holy Island, Bamburgh and lots of Border Castles.
