Ordinations 2025

Bishop Martin placing his hands on an ordination candidateThis year’s ordinations will take place over the weekend of 28 & 29 June.

Curates who have completed their first year of training will be ordained Priest on Saturday 28 June at 2pm. After their ordination, they will be able to preside at Holy Communion. Those entering curacy will be ordained Deacon at 10.30am on Sunday 29 June and will begin stipendiary (paid) or non-stipendiary (voluntary) roles in parishes across the Diocese.

All of those being ordained will have undergone a process of discernment to understand that this is the particular vocation that God has called them to. Priests are called to shepherd and lead people in their worship of God and mission to the world. They do this through a ministry of word and sacrament. Ordained deacons are called to serve and equip the people of God to make Christ known. They assist priests as they share in the task of preaching and offering pastoral care in the church and in the community.

All are welcome to come along to the ordinations to support the candidates.

Those who wish to robe need to register this with Emma Woollaston by Monday 16 June at the very latest. The dress code is cassock and surplice, and a white stole for clergy and readers scarf for Readers.
