One of our Kidderminster benefices has recently launched a new website. They are very pleased with their new site, finding it easy to update and maintain. The website uses the HUBB Church platform and was created by editing pre-populated templates.
Vicar Laura Betson said:
“We are a new team, part-way through the legal process of pastoral reorganisation, so we wanted to create a new website from scratch. A small group was formed from across the churches who spent some time thinking about what we wanted on the website, what messages we wanted to get across, and how we wanted the website experience to ‘feel’ for those using it. Following this, a group of three people worked on creating the website.
Our biggest hurdles were that none of us are particularly technical, and we had no-one with experience of creating and running a website before, so we were looking for something that was not too complicated, easy to update and maintain, and with supportive elements if we got stuck. The HUBB platform has been great for us. It was easy to learn how to add information and will be simple for us to update. There are also lots of online videos which explain how to do things, so we can easily refresh our memories or learn new things. It was important to us that we could have multiple users to manage the website, and we can do this easily through HUBB.
Throughout the process of creating our new website, Ellie in the diocesan office has been brilliant at supporting us and helping us create the site we wanted. She met with us on three occasions and helped both with planning what we wanted things to look like, and practically in helping enter information onto the website. Ellie also liaised with HUBB for us which was really helpful when we had a question that had a very technical answer. She has also been available once the site went live, so we know we have someone to call on if we get stuck.
We have lots of plans to develop our website in the future as our church team grows and develop. We’ve had lots of enquiries through the website, so we know it is reaching people and being seen. I would definitely recommend the HUBB platform, particularly if young are new to creating a website, and we have very much appreciated Ellie’s help and support.”

Transformation Communications Officer Ellie Jones said: “If your church is looking for advice on a new website and what might be the right solution, please do get in touch with me: ejones@cofe-worcester.org.uk - now that Google uses AI to produce a summary drawing answers primarily from website content, it’s more important than ever to have an up-to-date site, particularly when looking to engage families and younger generations!"
