Following last year’s heroic (but defeated) efforts with players from Worcester joining with colleagues in Hereford to play a cricket match against the might of Lichfield Diocese, an invitation to join forces for a match (or matches) this year has been received.
If you’re involved in some capacity in running a church – ordained or lay – and could be available on a Monday in the summer, then please contact Mark Carter in the church buildings team (mcarter@cofe-worcester.org.uk) for more information.
Mark says:
“I really enjoyed playing in the inter-diocese cricket match last year. Despite not having played for several years, and possessing a dodgy shoulder, I managed to roll back the years and top-score with 40 in an ultimately unsuccessful run chase against a strong Lichfield team. It was a great day: a boost for the collective wellbeing of men and women tasked with leading churches and supporting parishes, and continues a decades-long tradition of church cricket. The sun even shone for the majority of the day!”
