Clergy conference 2026

Clergy at the previous clergy conference sat in a room on chairs facing the speaker at the frontEvery three years, the clergy of the Diocese meet for a clergy conference to pray, worship and learn together, as well as having some fun! The next conference will take place from 21 - 24 September in Derbyshire with the theme of: Curious Hope: Journeying Together into God's Future.

This year, our clergy will also be joined by our diocesan network of paid children, young people and family ministers reflecting our key priority to
grow the number of children and young people in our churches.

There will be three main strands of the conference focussing on church and change, new generations, and world and witness. Speakers include Rowan Williams, Graham Tomlin and Lamora Ash, with a daily bible study led by Isabelle Hamley. There will also be a series of seminars and workshops and worship led by our curates along with Joshua Williams from St Stephen’s Church in Redditch, as well as opportunities to socialise together in the evening.

Curious hope logoWe will also hear from Bishop Hugh as he reflects on his first few months in our diocese. He said:

"This is an important opportunity for our clergy to spend time together in prayer and worship, making new friendships and renewing old ones as well as listening to some fantastic speakers. Please do pray for us as we gather, that it will be a time of renewal and refreshment for our clergy and children and youth ministers."
