Celebrating 175 years of Holy Trinity, Malvern

The celebrations began with an afternoon tea party in the Parish Hall with live music, children’s crafts, face painting and garden games. People of all ages from across our community came together to enjoy the afternoon sunshine, a glass fizz and plenty of cake.

This was followed by a special service of celebration in church. The church had been beautifully decorated with flower arrangements and pictures reflecting Holy Trinity’s life throughout the years. The choir sang an anthem by Nicholas Tudor to the words of the hymn “Holy, holy holy! Lord God Almighty”, which was particularly fitting to the occasion.People sitting around tables and standing chatting in the church hall

The Venerable Mark Badger, Archdeacon of Worcester, preached about Holy Trinity’s ministry in the past, present and future. He spoke of the origins of the church which was built as a Chapel of Ease to Great Malvern Priory to serve Malvern’s growing community, including providing a welcoming space to local quarry workers.

Holy Trinity is proud that, 175 years later, it continues to be a place of welcome for all. As an Inclusive Church, it seeks to ensure that everyone feels valued and welcomed, just as they are.

Becky Elliott, Vicar of the Benefice of Holy Trinity, Malvern and St James in West Malvern, said:

“The Anniversary Celebrations were a joyful way for the community to give thanks for the life of the church over the last 175 years and to pray for its future.”
