Around 80 people from across the Diocese gathered in the garden of the Old Palace in Worcester on Saturday to celebrate 10 years of the Eco Church Award Scheme.
All of those present were involved in Eco Church in their own churches and many had already received a bronze, silver or gold award. It was a chance to come together to celebrate all that has been achieved in our diocese and learn from each other as we continue on our journey.
Following a welcome from Bishop Hugh and an introduction from Diocesan Eco Church Lead, Sue Adeney, there was a chance to see a display of sustainable flower arranging from a member of the Cathedral flower guild. Over tea and cake, those present were able to talk to each other as well as meet representatives from Christian Aid, Just Money and the Cathedral’s Living Gently on the Earth programme. Our gold award-winning churches were also on hand to share their experiences. The afternoon was rounded off with worship together.
Sue said: “It was great to gather everyone together for this special celebration! We are currently working hard to get to our Silver Eco Diocese Award, so hopefully people went away inspired with some ideas of things they could do to move their church up to the next level!”
