People at Bishop Martin's business breakfastBishop Martin hosted a breakfast at the Black Country Institute of Technology yesterday with 20 people from the faith, charity, public and private sectors coming together to share their hopes and dreams for Dudley.

Mayor at breakfast meetingA number of the participants spoke briefly about current issues facing those living and working in Dudley Borough and there was also a chance for people to network and talk with each other. Bishop Martin is an ambassador for Dudley MBC’s ‘Forging the Future’ vision which aims to build safer, more resilient communities. Those present at the breakfast included the Mayor of Dudley, the Principal of Dudley College and the CEO of the Black Country Foodbank.

Bishop Martin speaking at meetingBishop Martin said: “It was great to bring people together who are keen to collaborate to improve the lives of people across the Borough of Dudley.  We were each able to share our own understanding of the challenges and opportunities in the current climate and discuss how we might work more closely together as we Forge a Future for All!”

Archdeacon Nikki also attended the event. She said: “It was wonderful to hear stories of people working together to forge a hopeful future for Dudley, building on our rich heritage to provide opportunities for young people. Input from the Black Country Foodbank team set this in the context of more families than ever living in food poverty. People from faith communities, local government, industry and education coming together can bring much needed transformation.”
