Café Chad at St Chad’s Church in Kidderminster has been given a ‘No Barriers’ Award for its work to ensure the café is a warm and welcoming space for all in the community.
The No Barriers Awards are organised by Wyre Forest District Council and celebrate those individuals, businesses and organisations who go the extra mile to help others. The awards reflect the remarkable breadth of ways that local people and organisations make Wyre Forest a more inclusive place and recognise those who demonstrate that inclusion is at the heart of how they operate.
Members of Café Chad received their award at a special ceremony on 16 April where it was presented to them by Councillor Fran Oborski, Chair of the Awards Panel.
Cafe Chad opens in the Church Hall of St Chad's Kidderminster twice each week on Monday and Wednesday mornings and is run entirely by volunteers. Four times a year, the café organises a table top sale, which raises money for different local and national charities.
Mattie Underhill from St Chad’s Church said: “This is an award for all the volunteers and customers who help make Cafe Chad a welcoming and safe place for all in our community. It was an honour to accept the award on everyone's behalf.”
