Published: 15th November 2019

On 3 November1869 the Little Church on the Common was dedicated to All Saints.

On All Saints Day, Sunday 3 November 2019, All Saints Church, Hollybush celebrated its 150thbirthday with a sung Eucharist led By Bishop John.

This special community eventstarted with a brief history of the church. It was originally endowed by CountessBeauchamp as a Chapel of Ease for the local quarry workers. Built by theseworkers from local stone, it soon became the focal point of the hamlet, andremains so today.

Extended by an extra bay in1927 to cope with its popularity, this Frederick Preedy-designed church retainsmany of its original fittings.Thebeautiful stained glass east window, also designed by Preedy, glows from abovea fine alabaster reredos and a beautiful fern-carved stone piscina.

Bishop John with vicar and churchwardensThe Bishop and lustycongregation stayed on for refreshments and conversation after the service, andall agreed it had been a fitting Happy Birthday celebration. Our heartfeltthanks go to Bishop John for leading our worship, and for his evidentfriendship.
