Worcester Cathedral has announced theunveiling of a portrait of the Dean of Worcester which has been speciallypainted by Malvern based portrait painter Tania March, currently Artistin Residence at the Cathedral.

The portrait will be unveiled at 4pm on Monday 1 October, in the Lady Chapel of the Cathedral, which is one of the Deansfavourite spaces. It is also the setting for the portrait and was chosenbecause of this.

The last portrait to be painted of a Dean of the Cathedraland to be on display was of Dean William Moore-Ede, who was Dean ofWorcester from 1908 to 1934.

Artist Tania March who is also an Associate Lecturer at theUniversity of Worcester says, It was a privilege and a pleasure to paint theportrait of the Dean, and I found him to be a very interesting subject. Themost important aspect for me was not only to capture a physical likenessand a sense of his nature and personality, but also his spirituality.

The portrait will be on display in the Dean's Chapel from the2 to 15 October 2018.
