The Worcestershire West Rural Team recently held two events for their local community.

Curate Jen Denniston tells us about them:

Harpley Bib Breakfast picture collage“The fifth Harpley Big Breakfast, an annual community event, on Saturday 1 September was the best yet. Around 80 locals, friends and neighbours enjoyed a full English cooked by church supporters.

It was great to eat together, meet new friends, and enjoy the tombola and other stalls. A lovely team effort and community spirit enables the running of St Bartholomews.

This year, funds raised went towards boiler repairs and heating. We hope to make the interior of the church a more flexible, usable space. Further fundraising and events will facilitate this.

Then on Sunday 2 September, we held a lovely, sunny 'Songs of Praise', following on from the 67th Alfrick Show.

WWRT Songs of PraiseThe service was led by the Revd Anne Potter; Brian Willis, OBE, played the keyboard and ALM Sally Porter read from the Song of Solomon. I led the prayers, which were crafted around some of the BBC Songs of Praise favourite hymns.

It was an enjoyable end to a great community weekend. People from several local parishes joined with some of those involved in organising the show, to sing hymns on the show ground before sharing fellowship over a cuppa and delicious cake.”
