Commemoration of the Armistice30 Aug 2018 By Bishop John
The Lord Lieutenant is arranging a service in Gheluvelt Park, Worcester, at 12.30 pm on Saturday 15 September as a county commemoration of the centenary of the armistice.
Bishop Graham will be leading the worship and Canon Georgina Byrne will give the address. The Lord Lieutenant has secured the services of the Grenadier Guards to provide the music for the occasion, as well as the cathedral choir.
It promises to be an extremely moving and powerful act of worship. I fear I shall not be able to attend as I shall be helping Glasshampton Monastery to celebrate their centenary which falls on the same day but I commend it to everyone in the Diocese. As the Lord Lieutenant himself has said, it would be such a good witness to the wider community if there were to be a turn-out from across the county and the borough of Dudley.
Those attending should use Pitchcroft for parking, be prepared for the weather, and bring a seat if they would like to use one.
