On Sunday, Churches from across the city will come together to host a stand at the Worcester Show in Gheluvelt Park. Church services will be cancelled so that there can be a presence at the show and this year’s stand has a theme of ‘God loves a Party’. There will be activities suitable for all ages and those on the stand will be giving away free (paper) cups of water and Party Ring biscuits. Visitors can also take part in a new Prayer Labyrinth.

Jo Musson, Vicar of St John the Baptist, Claines and St George’s Worcester, said:

“The Worcester Show is one of my highlights of the year. It’s a fabulous event with a flower and produce show, dog show and art exhibition as well as stalls selling everything from candles to jam. There are community groups dancing and singing and loads of fun for children. As it’s a Sunday, rather than staying inside our churches, we cancel our services and join in the fun. People from all the local churches and denominations come together to provide free activities for children and their families. Do come and say hi! We have only one aim: to be a blessing to everyone who walks by.”

Alongside their stand, churches will also be taking part in a special event on the Bandstand at 10am. It’s a Celebration of Unity with musicians from various faith communities in Worcester, coming together to sing, play and dance and celebrate that we are all part of one big family. Songs featured will include ‘All You Need is Love’ from the Beatles and Louis Armstrong’s ‘What a Wonderful World’ alongside more traditional hymns such as ‘He’s Got the Whole World, in His Hands’. All are welcome to come along to the Lake and join in, song sheets will be provided.
