Experience Easter in Droitwich28 Mar 2017 By Sam Setchell
There's the chance to 'Experience Easter' at St Andrew's Church in Droitwich.
Experience Easter, six interactive displays telling the story of Easter, are on display at St Andrews Church in Droitwich Spa.
At each of the six displays there is something to do or to think about. For example at the Hopes and Dreams display which tells the story of Palm Sunday there is a road, palm leaves and a cross made from stone. People are invited to pick up a stone and write their hope and dream upon it, then place it at the foot of the cross. Over 350 children from fours schools - St Peter’s Droitwich CofE Academy, Hindlip First School, Westlands First school and Chawson First School - will be guided through the stations which proved very popular last year. St Andrews church is open all day and Experience Easter will be available for members of the public to visit and take part in the activities until 23 April except during school visits.
Hope Evans (aged nine) came to see Experience Easter last year when she attended Chawson First School. Now at Witton Middle School she said “I heard the bible story before but doing all the things made me really think about it. It was very good. I am going to show mum what to do at the stations this year”
The Revd Bev Jameson Team Vicar Droitwich Spa, Salwarpe and Hindlip with Martin Hussingtree & Dean of Women's Ministry Worcester Diocese said
“Last year the children brought their families to show them the activities they had done during their school visit. We found that mums dads and other adults did the activities too. It does not matter if you are seven or seventy we are all alone and afraid sometimes and we can write or draw something to remind us of that and leave it in the Garden of Gethsemane display. I really hope people come, enjoy the displays and learn a little more about the story of Easter.”
St Andrews Church and parish Centre is in the centre of town on St Andrew's Street, Droitwich Spa, WR9 8DY. There is parking close by on Waitrose car park which is free on a Sunday.
