9 August is Mary Sumner Day when across the world, members of the Mothers’ Union celebrate their founder, Mary Sumner.
This year the MU is marking our 150th anniversary with local, national and global events, giving thanks for the vision that started in Mary’s living room and has grown into a world-wide organisation with over four million members.
Join with the Mothers' Union as they give thanks for the work of the organisation, reaching out to families in need through their work in prisons and hospitals, with the disadvantaged and the abused. The MU's social justice campaigns raise awareness of important issues such as domestic abuse and modern slavery.
the organisation is rightly proud of thier past achievements and areconfident that, by God’s grace, they will continue to carry out essential work in the years to come. Join us, join in!
There will be a special service marking 150 years of the Mothers' Union in the cathedral on Tuesday 24 November at 2 pm. All churches will be invited to bring their Mothers' Union banners, even if there is no longer a branch meeting at their church. Please look out for more information and go along to support this service.
All this day, O Lord,
Let me touch as many lives as possible for thee;
and every life I touch,
do thou, by thy spirit quicken,
whether through the words I speak,
the prayer I breathe, or the life I live. Amen
