Heritage Crime forum

West Mercia Police, the Churches Conservation Trust and theDiocese of Worcester are pleased to announce a Heritage Crime Forum day eventto take place at All Saints Church, Worcester, on Friday 8 November from 9.30am 3.30pm. The day looks to bring together those who care for historicbuildings and the key stakeholders in the fight against heritage crime, tobuild strategies to better prevent heritage crime and help those communitieswho suffer the effects of heritage crime better.

The day will benefit from speakers from a wide range oforganisations, including Historic England, the Churches Conservation Trust, theScrap Metal Dealers Association and the diocesan Church Buildings Officer,Mark Carter.

Speaking of the partnership with West Mercia Police and theChurches Conservation Trust, the Archdeacon of Worcester, the Venerable RobertJones said: 

Heritage Crime is a major concern for communities andcongregations who look after the many hundreds of historic church buildings inthe Diocese of Worcester and the wider area covered by West MerciaPolice. It is encouraging that the Police are supporting this event tohelp our communities as they seek to prevent crime taking place but also tobetter support those who suffer from heritage crime. I encourage parishesto send a representative to this event and share the learning across ourchurches and the communities which we serve as a Church."

Any enquiries can be made to the Church Buildings Office atthe diocese on 01905 732809. Parishes in Dudley Archdeaconry who do notfall under West Mercia Police but West Midlands Police are equally encouragedto attend.
