WYW - Training

Inspire

Revitalise your parish work with children and young people!

Calling all parish volunteers with children and young people to a training day on Saturday, 27th September at St John's School, Bromsgrove.  For further details please click here.

Quest
We believe that every young person has the right to his or her own opinion and deserves to be heard!

"QUEST strives to bring the truth of Jesus Christ to every individual through focused questions rather than force fed dogma. We feel it is crucial for individuals to work through ultimate issues in an open forum that values each person present."

As the Youth Officer I am offering this as a training package this year to church based youth groups who want to explore how to share their faith with others

What do you get???

You get the Youth Officer and all the equipment needed to run the 7 'Quest' sessions.

Each quest session runs for 2 hours, and includes worship, team building games, food (you provide that), and the Quest training material.

You get your young people and youth leaders working together on the same set of issues and questions.

Young people more able to listen and share their faith confidently.

What do I need from you??

I need to come and meet with you and your young people to talk through 'Quest' in more detail and then to plan the Quest sessions.

Depending on the size of your group, I will need a good size room or hall for the Quest sessions.

I need your church to pray for the young people and the Quest Programme.

Quest is a 'MUST SEE' programme. You will be blown away by the massive visuals and music. If you take up the Quest Challenge you will not be disappointed. Get in touch with me, Sarah Brush, at the Old Palace and book your Quest Challenge.

Team Building Workshops and Group Building Activities

Pray With Clay - a workshop for all ages

Using clay can be very therapeutic experience, working clay, warming it and gaining an understanding of what it is, how it moves and takes shape can lead us to create some wonderful things. There is something quite instinctive in wanting to work with this medium. If you have ever had a piece of blue-tac in your hand you will know that it is usual to start kneading and working it.

Working with clay can be a way to pray.
While our hands work the clay our minds are free to meditate, think, converse with God.  Reflecting on your journey through life and on the way God has or has not been allowed to shape you into the vessel He wants you to be, can become for you both challenging and encouraging.

Reflect for a moment on the passage from Jeremiah 18, 1-6, "This is the word that came to Jeremiah from the Lord: Go down to the house of the potter and there I will give you my message, so I went down to the house of the potter, I saw him working at his wheel. But the pot he was shaping from the clay was marred in his hands; so the potter formed it into another pot, shaping it as seemed best to him. Can I not do with you as the potter does? Like clay in the hand of the potter so are you in my hand."

We will be using clay to make a prayer symbol. We will get into small groups were we will discuss what we think a symbol is, and share examples of symbols we see around us every day. This should take about 10 mins in your group.
Then take your clay, spend some time kneading it and getting to know what the clay is like.  Then on your own work with your clay, to create your prayer symbol.  When you have finished spend some time reflecting and praying about the
symbol and its significance for you.  Place your symbol with others and if the group feels able share with the group the significance of you symbol. Spend some time the praying for one another.

Keep your symbol as a reminder of this experience.

Corporate Play and Games...
Corporate play is great for all age groups, and is a lot of fun.

We have two, 2 metre balls, one, 1 metre ball and two parachutes. After the proper health and safety training, youth workers can use this equipment with the church or youth group.

If you would like me to take you through the basic health and safety training course with this equipment then get in touch.

Sarah Brush: tel: 01905 732825 or 01905 732824

This equipment will not be let out to anyone who has not been on a course.
Land Yacht Training...
Redditch YMCA has 3 land yachts.

They have three trained and qualified workers as well as support from the Diocesan Youth Officer, who could run a Landyacht Training Day at the YMCA.
