Training is offered either on a regular basis or by request in the following areas and for the following responsibilities:

Child Protection Training

Media Training

The Communications Officer holds sessions with Readers and Ordinands and is willing to resource parish and deanery groups.

Churchwardens Training

Annual churchwardens training, particularly useful for new churchwardens.

Stewardship Training

including ‘First to the Lord’, PCC budgeting, obtaining grants.

Maintenance and care of Church Buildings

Occasional specialist seminars are offered by the DAC eg architects conferences for those who do church quinquennial inspections

CAWS (Church Action within Society)

Currently planning conferences /training in the following areas:

  • Knowing Your Place - a workshop to explore different ways of finding out about (researching) your locality and community
  • Teenage Pregnancy - conferences (1 in Dudley, 1 in Worcestershire) to be organised with Jane Fraser for youth workers, clergy, etc.
  • Criminal Justice - a conference in the very early planning stage and possibly a Prisons Sunday event
  • Racial Justice - a 3 year programme of training expected to start later this year for clergy and OP staff
  • Domestic Abuse - possible day for clergy but little demand indicated currently
