The Diocesan Library is a lending library. It is situated in the Old Palace in Deansway, opposite the reception desk. It may be used by any member of the diocese and is entirely free.

There are about 4000 books on all aspects of religion and theology at all levels. They range across philosophy, doctrine, books on the Bible and commentaries on all its books, Christian life and spirituality, worship, pastoralia, Christianity in the world, the arts, Church history, world religions and many other topics.

The library is manned by a team of volunteers. It is open when the Old Palace is open. If there is no helper present, books my still be taken out. There are full instructions on how to find books and how to register those borrowed.

If you would like to know more about faith, why not come and visit us. The library is also a quiet place in which to work and study.

The Robin Woods Library is situated inside the New Road Methodist Church Centre on Stourbridge Ring Road.

This ecumenical theological library is one of two which are supported by the Diocese of Worcester, the other being at the Old Palace, Worcester.

It is free to use and open to all.  It is an excellent resource for those studying at all levels, from bible study groups and Bishop’s Certificate courses, to Reader and ordination training courses.

The library has approx 3,500 books relating to Christian topics, including bible commentaries, ethics, spiritual direction, biography and liturgy, as well as wide range of material for Advent, Lent and Easter.  There are comprehensive sections on prayer, and Franciscan, Celtic and Ignatian spirituality.  There are also sections on music and ministry, and an RE and Teaching resources section.

Books cannot be loaned online: they can be borrowed from the library, which is open from Monday to Friday, 10.00 – 14.00.  If access is needed outside those times please contact the Librarian SUE AMER on 01562 66625.  Books can be borrowed for three months, and can be renewed three times (or be taken out initially on a long loan, for 12 months).

The library is staffed by a team of volunteers.  Please ring 01384 376444 before making a special journey to ensure that it is open.

Access to the library is via the double glass doors at the front of New Road Methodist Church Centre.  Please press the button beside the door and someone will answer via the intercom.  There is disabled access via a lift to the library, which is on the first floor.  There is limited parking available at the rear of the church.

We are currently working on making all our book titles available to view on line.
