The Board of Education

Kingswinford representative - Anthony Lovesy

Educated at a Boys Grammar School after which I studied at Birmingham College of Arts and Crafts, finally specialising in Ceramics for my National Diploma.  I spent a year at the North Staffordshire Polytechnic College of Ceramics and subsequently studied at the Birmingham School of Art Education/Birmingham University for my ATD and PGCE.

I have attended a number of courses over the years as part of my professional development, gaining certificates in History of Art, Counselling etc.  I spent 35+ years teaching in the Secondary Sector, ranging from a Boys Secondary Modern to a large inner-city High School.   I have undertaken a number of roles: Head of Art, Year Head, Co-ordinator for Creative Art and Faculty Head for Expressive Arts. I have also taught in Adult Education.

Since retiring from full-time teaching, I have been doing occasional supply work in both the Primary and Secondary sectors.

I have been involved with Examination Boards as a Subject Specialist, SJC Member and Moderator.

As a former school governor, I have experience as a parent, teacher, and LEA representative in Primary, Special and High Schools.  I was also an active Teacher Trade Unionist.

I am currently Deanery Treasurer for Kingswinford and a member of both Deanery and Diocesan Synods and the Bishop’s Council.  Prior to joining the Board of Education I served two triennium on the Resources Board.

I am a Justice of the Peace and as a Magistrate sit as Chairman in Adult, Youth, Family and Betting and Gaming courts.

My remaining “spare time” is taken up by my family, my grandchildren, going on holidays, when I can find the time – and hot glass blowing!
