February 2010

February tells of the Stourbridge Foodbank, helping to feed the most needy in our diocese.  Doug Chaplin writes about putting life into worship and Bishop David about God’s timetable.  Meet the Diocesan Training team and some of the young people in our diocese who have been given some fantastic handouts to keep their inspiring projects on the road.  Keep an eye out for the Child Protection Training programme and all the other events going on this month.

   
 

December 2009/January 2010

November 2009

Andrew Mottram has joined the team at the Old Palace, and he is ready to help parishes who have to care for historic buildings.  Pray for the new Diocesan Synod, which meets for the first time this month; Streetpastors from Stourbridge tell their story – an inspiring read.  Events all over the diocese are listed in the back pages and Bishop David writes about the ‘Ladies who came in from the Cold.’

   
 

October 2009

Are you sitting next to an extraordinary person in your pew – we’ve found a few and blown their trumpets for them?  Read about the great Lifepath event in Malvern which is doing wonderful outreach work with children, and about Black Pear who are trying to help us all through hard times.  Bishop John highlights his emphasis on mission and the news page let’s you know what’s going on around the diocese.  There are loads of great events to get to on the back pages.  If you have a story for the Diocesan News, please do get in touch – we love good news.

   
 

September 2009

This month’s edition of the Diocesan News introduces those ordained this summer, and tells us all how to ‘Come as You Are’ on Back to Church Sunday.  Follow the Bishop’s visit to the Dudley Circles project and find out how to make your church visitor friendly.  Is God Calling? asks Bishop David, as he invites you to explore your calling.  There is lots going on in the diocese this month, and it’s all listed in the back pages.

   
 

July/August 2009

This double edition focuses on weddings, telling of people’s real life experience in the Church of England and recapping on some of the changes that have been made to the rules on getting married.  Bring me Sunshine tells of an event organised to address mental health issues, and Bishop John talks about the ‘Faith of our Forebears’.  There are loads of summer events to visit and lots going on around the Diocese, many are featured in the What’s On? June 2009

This month’s Diocesan News extends an invitation to visit one of Worcestershire’s hidden treasures, and to meet one of our new Readers in the Diocese.  Read about the Wordsley Baby Memorial which is bringing comfort to grieving mothers, and of course find out what there is to do in June around the diocese.

May is for marriage in this Diocesan News; read about an innovative scheme that helps marriages of all types stay fresh and fulfilling.  The Old Palace is re-opening it’s restaurant under the new name Café@theOldPalace –and you are invited to enjoy a free cup of coffee there. Bishop John writes about Authorised Lay Ministry and the events page is bursting with things to do this month.

Make Mother's Day special this year, by giving yours and someone else's mother a treat with the help of the Mother's Union.  Read about the exciting new building going on at St Andrew's Malvern, because they can't accomodate all the children they have!  The Archdeacon of Worcester writes about a 'mission shaped church' and the Bishop about prayer.  There are lots of things going on around the diocese and many of them are listed in the back pages of the publication.
